World’s Oldest Man Dies – Family Stunned
Apr, 15 2011

Walter Breuning no longer the World's Oldest Man since his death on Thursday.

GREAT FALLS, Montana – The world’s oldest living man Walter Breuning 114, died Thursday.  His family is devastated. “We just saw him yesterday.” said daughter Irene Deiter, 91 of Missoula. “All of us are in shock.  It just goes to show you, life is short”.

Son Walter Breuning Jr., 93 or “Little Wally” as he’s known to family and friends was extremely shook up upon receiving the news of his fathers death. “An event like this really makes you examine your own mortality. I was carefree yesterday, but now I can’t help but think, realistically I only have another 20 years”.

“He was so full of life” said Deiter, “He had just joked, he had soil himself again, the next minute he’s gone.  I think we all took him for granted.  He taught Little Wally and me to place a cup under our chins, in case we dosed off, it would catch our drool. He was so much wiser than his years”.

Stacia Kirby, spokeswoman for the Rainbow Senior Living retirement home where Breuning lived, said “What’s sad is he was really looking forward to seeing Scream 4, which of course opened today. Movies really made him happy. Except for that new Arthur movie. His blood pressure was very high after seeing that.  I’m told his last words were “Screw Russell Brand.”

Services will be held Tuesday.  The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity Breuning has supported since he was a child, The National Scurvy Association.
